It is important that upon your arrival you acquire the transport card which can be paid monthly, it is personalized and you must apply for it at an EMT office or via internet, if you come as a tourist you can purchase it at any train station and buy single or 10-trip tickets.

If you want to look for long-stay accommodation there are many pages such as: Idealista, real estate, applications such as Badi (to find a roommate) among others. As it is a city in high demand, prices have risen and more and more Spaniards ask for more documentation to prove economic solvency, especially Spanish payroll or have a Spanish guarantee, so do not be surprised if they ask you to pay months in advance as this will be their way of guaranteeing themselves.

4.Culture and Customs

Madrileños are known for their kindness and hospitality, they are called “gatos” to people who are purebred Madrileños, i.e. those who were born in Madrid and whose parents and grandparents were born in Madrid. It is common to greet with a kiss on each cheek and to address each other as “tú” instead of “usted”. Meal times should be kept in mind, the morning shifts are usually between 7:00 and 11:00. Lunch or lunch between 13:00 to 16:00. Dinner between 20:00 to 23:00.
